So I've been getting to know more about 'Cult Party Kei' style through a few members of Cult Party Kei UK and I've found it to be a very interesting mélange of mori with fairy kei. The layering reminds me of mori girl and the play with textures but the mix of pastel colours with white/cream and the lightness of it seems to be fairy kei-esque. They also incorporate crosses, accessories made out of fake hair, tassels and bric-a-brac of other creepy things like doll parts in Cult Party coordinations. I also notice various of handmade and vintage items which people incorporate with their outfits.
Here's a dress that I'd love to own one day but I don't even know where I can get it from...

They also have a makeup style as seen in this example of a street snap here.
You can active this look by applying blush under the eyes, some eyeliner and lashes.
In my photo, I've basically did just that. I think the two girls that have done it Aimi and Ophelia looks stunning with this type of makeup but for me I think I just look like as if someone punched me and just a tad creepy. Perhaps a more subtle application next time!
I'd like to know your opinions on the style, do you like it, hate it or just don't really care for it?
Have any of you tried the style? If you have I'd love to see!
I know I remember thinking it was a weird style when I came across it last year, but now I actually really like it. It's still so experimental so guidelines are pretty much slim to none.
Here's a Cult Party Kei outfit I wore for yesterday's outing to see The Avengers (great movie btw!):

You look lovely! You layered everything so well, its matches perfectly :3
ReplyDeleteI wore this style just yesterday ^^ I started off CPK but it turned more Mori Kei o,O xox
Thanks Alice! I'm glad you like the layers :D I was happy when I got to wear my bloomers like that too XD
DeleteI'd love to see this coordinate of yours!
Looks quite similar to pastel goth?! nice rabbit :3
ReplyDeleteOh I don't know much on Pastel Goth but after looking at photos on google I gathered that it's more pinky goth but with pastel colours mixed with black? But CPK seems to have more of a softness about it but still creepy in the way Pastel goth uses crucifixes in a cuter and more colourful way. I'm still unsure...
DeleteThank you hehe it's the usakumya's first outing.

Aw well my heart still lies in Lolita but I just want to dabble on other styles...I also blame the CPK group for this venture XD
This is soooo cute and well done! I love the layers colours and the makeup♥

Yay Thank you, Lila! ♥ I'm glad you think I did it well, it's a hard style to determine but it's definitely fun to try, especially the 'creepy' makeup.
DeleteYou can get a dress like this on taobao. I really wanted one like that too and finally found it.
